 PHILLIES TOP STORY
Back to the Future
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Even though Larry Bowa is with the Dodgers, and ex-Dodger player Davey Lopes is coaching for the Phillies, the old rivalry from the 1970s and ’80 will regain the spotlight when Philadelphia and Los Angeles meet again in the NLCS – a quarter century removed from the last meeting. In three previous matchups to earn a spot in the World Series, the Dodgers won twice (1977, 1978) and the Phillies just once (1983). However, the team that survived the playoff series went on to lose in the World Series. Needless to say, both teams are trying to defy history.
